About the Accommodation
What is a Fijian bure?
Bures have been a part of the local lifestyle for centuries. Traditionally constructed with indigenous materials such as bamboo and plaited palm leaves, bures served as gathering places for families and communities to come together for ceremonies, storytelling, feasts, and more.
Distinctive features include thatched roofs and open-air designs, both allowing for natural ventilation and protection from the elements while not obstructing the sacred, stunning nature surrounding them.
While our bures have been built with modern comforts and amenities, they were designed to embody the iconic symbol of Fijian heritage, and are styled with locally sourced materials. A homage to the island and the people that are woven into the fabric of our resort.

For me, the thing that set Yasawa Resort apart from other luxury stays is the love, attention and sense of connectedness that comes from spending time here. Sure, all the main amenities of a luxury resort are there, but as the only resort on the island, the Yasawa community really make you feel like you are welcomed into their home. And what a home – this island is stunning (and mostly untouched).
There was a fantastic mix of activities (both group and individual/couple), as well as opportunities to relax and unwind. I would say, if you are looking for 24/7 WifFi, TVs, extensive spa treatment menus and multiple restaurant choices, Yasawa is probably not for you. It had a huge patio, infinity pool, outdoor shower, outdoor dining area, hammock, separate indoor living room, and a private beach surrounded by lava rock formations and mountains.
