We are delighted to welcome Kaydee, Isikeli and Leo Ravasua as the newest members of the Yasawa Family!
Kaydee is Yasawa Island Resort & Spa’s new General Manager. She comes to us with a wealth of world wide experience from corporate hotels to her most recent posting as Assistant General Manager of Fiji’s celebrity haven – Como Laucala Island Resort. Isikeli has joined Yasawa as the Back of House Operations Manager. His expertise in the grounds and the re-starting of our market gardens has Yasawa blooming all over!
One year old Leo is the Director of Cuddles. He is very elusive, but if you are lucky enough to cross paths with young Leo, you will have the good fortune to meet one of Yasawa’s cutest residents.
Kaydee & Isikeli recently celebrated two beautiful milestones. They were married in a traditional Fijian wedding ceremony; celebrated with family and friends from Fiji & Australia. Their traditional Fijian wedding outfits were made from masi – a paper made from the bark of the mulberry tree.
Other Fijian wedding traditions include the presentation of a ‘tabua’ (whale’s tooth) by the groom’s family and the ‘tevutevu’ where family and friends offer gifts of mats, blankets, pillows, and other household items to the newly married couple.
Leo’s birthday was also traditionally celebrated as the first birthday of the first born child in a Fijian family is a huge milestone. Lots of family, feasting, and gifts from both sides were a part of Leo’s big day. Happy birthday Leo!
