Do you love to learn about the authentic culture of the places you travel to? Does connecting to the people who live in the place you are visiting become an integral part of your journey? Are you a seeker of experiences that are out of the ordinary?
If the answer to many of these questions is ‘yes’, you might find a stay at Yasawa is exactly what you are looking for in your next holiday.
We are so proud to share our authentic culture with our guests… it is woven into all of our activities and at the heart of everything we do at Yasawa. We are grateful that you choose to share in these experiences and walk the more sustainable & path less travelled with us. Vinaka!
The Sunday Rule…and our deep appreciation for the guests that “get us”…
It’s so difficult to say to a guest who has dreamed about visiting Yasawa and travelled half way around the world to get here, “We’re so sorry, we don’t do any scheduled activities on a Sunday.” (except the village church visit). The resort’s Sunday observance is in reverence to our Chief and the culture of our local communities. It allows as many of our staff to go home on a Sunday and spend the day with their families at church and aligns with their observance of doing no activities outside of the village.
We sincerely thank all of our guests for their understanding and appreciating what we are trying to achieve in sustaining our beautiful & authentic local culture.
Tips when Visiting the Village
We are honoured to be invited to visit the village each week.
- We ask all of our guests to remove their hats and sunglasses when entering the village.
- Our female guests are asked to wear something that covers their knees and shoulders.
- If sitting with the Chief or elders in the village, you should never point your feet towards them, but rather sit cross legged.
